Gege Akutami, the creator of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, stated in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump #8 that he hoped to complete the manga’s plot this year.
Jujutsu Kaisen by Gege Akutami debuted as a serial in Weekly Shonen Jump in March 2018 and will be collected in 21 tankobon manga volumes by December 2022. The manga became quite well-liked and was taken up by MAPPA for an anime adaptation. The first season of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime debuted in October 2020, and a film version followed in December 2021. The second season of the show will then begin airing in the summer of 2023.
Shueisha Weekly Shonen Jump #8 has been released, and the author’s notes in the issue imply that mangaka Gege Akutami will complete the manga’s plot in 2023. The author stated the following:
“Happy New Year! This year, I intend to wrap up the tale.”
Kohei Horikoshi, the manga creator of My Hero Academia, has previously made a similar statement in Jump Festa 2022. He did not, however, adhere to the manga’s ongoing plot. Similar to Gege Akutami, who suggested that the series would conclude in 2023 during his speech at the Jump Festa 2023 Jujutsu Kaisen Super Stage. However, Mangaka’s latest author remarks in Weekly Shonen Jump #8 indicated that the story will conclude this year despite the fact that the message was unclear back then.
Before the manga is finished, there will probably only be three arcs of the actual story—the current arc and two others. There might be a catastrophe in the manga’s concluding arc that is at least as significant as what occurred in Shibuya. Gege Akutami may decide to add one or two arcs before the manga is finished depending on that; considering the amount of time left before the year ends, doing so would seem fitting.
Ryomen Sukuna’s threat will be resolved in the final arc, and Yuji Itadori might be released from the clutches of the cursed spirit. The sorcerers might finally be able to learn all of Kenjaku’s secrets and his ultimate aim in the last arc, which could also result in their revealing the circumstances surrounding him. In the final arc, this can result in a terrible conflict.
