In the past two weeks, Hera Pheri 3 has received a lot of attention for a variety of reasons, including Akshay Kumar’s involvement, his exit, and finally Akshay’s replacement with Kartik Aaryan. Since then, speculation has surrounded the identity of the film’s director. Anees Bazmee’s inclusion is highly desired by the team, but the director has not yet given the go-ahead. Sources claim that when Anand Pandit and Firoz Nadiadwala wanted to collaborate on the movie and things with Akshay Kumar were not going well, the pair first approached Varun Dhawan with the offer of Hera Pheri 3. “Firoz and Anand both wanted Varun Dhawan to play Raju because they believe he makes comedies better than anybody else. Additionally, the two producers offered David Dhawan the opportunity to co-direct the movie with Rohit Dhawan “According to a source, Bollywood Hungama.
The source further added, “While the offer was very tempting, Varun didn’t want to jump into the franchise created by Akshay Kumar. He has tremendous respect for Akshay Kumar and didn’t want to use the not-so-good equation between Akshay and Firoz, to climb the ladder of stardom. Hera Pheri 3 is a sure-shot blockbuster, but Varun stepped out of the film out of respect for Akshay. His father, David Dhawan also felt the same,” the source further told us.
After a series of discussions, Varun and David conveyed their decision to Firoz and Anand. “It was a package deal. As things stand today, Firoz is on the lookout for a director, whereas Anand Pandit may or may not do the film.”
